MediaLink®
University classroom building
A university needs to install 40 AV systems in a classroom building. 30 systems were designed for basic multimedia classrooms, while 10 were designed for advanced multimedia labs. The university had four basic requirements for the control components of these systems: ease of use, standardization of equipment, low cost, and flexibility. The more advanced systems also required additional inputs, integrated control of the VCR and DVD player, and audio amplification for 70 volt distributed audio systems.
Product solution for control of the 30 basic systems:
- 30 MediaLink Controllers, MLC 206 (each ships with a three-gang wallplate)
Solution: Osbaldo Rodriguez, Product Development Manager for Extron Electronics, explained, “All you need is the MLC 206 to control the projector's input switching and audio control. To mount each MLC 206 in the lectern, then you just need a three-gang wallplate—great for lecterns or walls.”
Product solution for control of the 10 advanced systems:
- 10 MediaLink Controllers, MLC 206
- 10 VCR control modules, IRCM-VCR
- 10 DVD player control modules, IRCM-DVD
- 10 MediaLink Switchers, MLS 506MA
- 10 five-gang wall plates for the MLC 206 with IR control modules, MLM-5GWP
Solution: Rodriguez elaborated, “The centerpiece of the MediaLink System is the MLC 206 that controls the projector and MediaLink Switcher. Then add the VCR and DVD player control modules so the instructor can easily control those two sources. The MLC 206 and control modules fit into a five-gang wallplate for lectern or wall mounting. Use the MLS 506MA to expand on the projector's I/O capabilities. It provides up to six additional inputs and 30 watt, amplified audio output for 70 volt distributed audio systems.”
