Overview

The Extron CS 3T is a full-range ceiling speaker featuring an open back and transformer for use in non-plenum airspace environments. It features a 3" (76 mm) full-range driver and can be used in 70/100 volt or 8 ohm operation. The CS 3T provides an extremely wide 165° conical dispersion for flexibility in speaker spacing. It is designed for applications where high intelligibility and maximum coverage is desired in voice reinforcement applications and low ceiling installations. The CS 3T features a power rating of 16 watts continuous pink noise and 32 watts continuous program capacity.

CS 3T

Provide a full-range open back ceiling speaker that shall provide wide, uniform coverage and an internal transformer.
1. Full-range open back ceiling speaker with an internal transformer for 8 ohm direct and 70/100 volt operation, plus wide, uniform 165° conical dispersion
  1. Driver Requirements
    1. Shall consist of a 3" (7.6 cm) full-range driver
  2. Performance Requirements
    1. Shall provide a frequency range of 118 Hz to 20 kHz, -10 dB below average SPL, measured on-axis in half space
    2. Shall provide a power handling capacity of 16 watts (rms) continuous pink noise per IEC 60268-5 and 32 watts (rms) continuous program
    3. Shall provide a nominal sensitivity of 87 dB SPL (1 W, 1 m) measured in half space
    4. Shall provide a nominal impedance of 8 ohms per speaker
    5. Shall provide a nominal conical coverage angle of 165°
  3. Electrical Requirements
    1. Shall support 8 ohm direct or 70/100 volt connection from power amplifiers
    2. Shall provide a 6 position, through-the-grille power tap selector
      1. Shall provide selectable rotary switch taps for 70 volt operation, including 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1 watt, and 8 ohms direct
      2. Shall provide selectable rotary switch taps for 100 volt operation, including 16, 8, 4, and 2 watts, and 8 ohms direct
      3. Shall provide speaker tap selector and selection guide on the front of the speaker
    3. Shall provide an internal overload protection circuit
    4. Shall support one incoming and one outgoing speaker level signal on one 4-pole, 5 mm captive screw connector
      1. Shall support wiring multiple speakers using parallel or loop-through wiring
      2. Shall support a maximum wire gauge of 12 AWG per connection point for a single wire
      3. Shall support a maximum wire gauge of 16 AWG per connection point for two wires
  4. Speaker Cartridge Enclosure Requirements
    1. Shall have a white, paintable textured finish
    2. Shall provide a thin-edged bezel surrounding the grille
    3. Shall measure 10.3" (26.2 cm) in diameter from bezel edge to edge
    4. Shall measure 3" (7.6 cm) in height from mounting surface to top of withdrawn locking arm posts
    5. Shall weigh 3.4 lbs (1.6 kg) per speaker cartridge
    6. Shall require 9.2" (23.4 cm) diameter opening in mounting surface for speaker cutout
    7. Shall provide a white, paintable magnetically-attached perforated steel grille with black scrim
  5. General Requirements
    1. Shall be sold in pairs
    2. Shall be compatible with Extron CS 120P plenum rated enclosures
    3. Shall meet regulatory compliances
      1. Shall meet safety compliances under CE, NFPA 70, and NFPA 90A
      2. Shall be UL listed for plenum airspaces and meet UL 2043 for heat and smoke release, only when speaker cartridge is used with CS 120P plenum ceiling tile enclosure
      3. Shall meet UL 1480 for commercial and professional audio systems
      4. Shall comply with appropriate requirements for RoHS and WEEE
    4. Shall provide five year parts and labor warranty
